The vet wanted to keep Galen an extra (extra) day so he's not coming home tonight. His kidney numbers went up instead of stabilizing. This is apparently not that uncommon, but they also gave him a blood transfusion.
Also also, one of the reasons he hasn't gained weight is that his intestinal walls are about 5x thicker than normal. So fewer nutrients penetrate. Steroids may help this, but that will be after the month of meds to clear up the current infection.
He's probably coming home tomorrow night. Among other reasons, I think we've spent next month's paycheck already in the last three days. And we know he's really unhappy at the vet - he got tagged "caution" for growling, spitting, and swiping at the techs.
