Old-School: sometimes classic, sometimes just old.

This week's Lockdown Takeout Review: La Traviata.

This is an old-school Italian restaurant in the Mission. Our lasagna go-to Marcella's is closed indefinitely and I've been craving it, so we tried this place.

What worked: The interior (which I saw for the pickup) could only be more old-school if it had checkered tablecloths and shallow candle holders. The walls of the small space are jammed with black and white pictures. It's cozy in a good way.

The food was... okay. My lasagna was fine. The sweetbreads were fine. The eggplant Parm (which was under a different name), according to the wife, was okay but she's had better. The bread was quite good.

What didn't: None of it was memorable. I suspect all of it would have been better hot, but the wife was picking me up at work first and took several wrong turns, then did the same going home - so the commute was much longer.

Will we visit again? Probably not.
