Thoroughly domesticated

I got to bed late, and it felt later due to the time change. No, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but tell it to my body clock.

I spent the night slightly contorted so as not to disturb the cat, who was sleeping around my knees. This morning, when I got up, I discovered that it wasn’t Galen after all.

It was a stuffed rabbit.

One time when I was fostering kittens one of the fuzzy ones went and curled up for sleep under my neck when I was lying on my stomach. I got a crick in my neck from trying to avoid crushing the critter overnight.

Somehow, I get the impression that you wouldn't have been nearly as annoyed if it had been Galen you were accommodating. :)

accomodating the fuzzy one

Yes, exactly. I don't mind being bullied by the cat - much - but bullied by an inanimate object is a trifle ego-deflating.

There's the apocryphal story of the Chinese mandarin who cut off a priceless embroidered sleeve to avoid disturbing the sleeping kitten.

I once spent an hour and a half with the kitten sleeping belly-up on my unmoving arm. I had a book and could read one-handed, making it easier.

We have been both pushed to the opposite edges of the bed during the night, so the cat can take up the middle half.
