A16OK

We had a nice dinner last night with the upstairs neighbors, [livejournal.com profile] ppfuf, and G-M. We went to A16 (on the other side of the City from us). The wife and I had been there before; the others had not. Due to various convalescence factors we clown carred in our vehicle, which caused some other discomfort issues along with parking three blocks away.

Dinner was good. We sat in the back, so it wasn't as loud as the rest of the place. Their house-made salumi is not as tasty or ambitious as Incanto or Perbacco, but it's quite serviceable. The special roasted friarelli peppers were fabulous. I tried the dish from 7x7's Top 100: Maccaronara with ricotta salata. It's a grownup version of Chef Boyardee, although I mean that in a good way. Chunky pasta, red sauce, grated cheese - all house-made. Good, but far from their best dish. The pork shoulder and porchetta that the wife had were much tastier. I'll go back but this will not be what I order.

Mmm, now I want to make porchetta.
