We saw Eddie Izzard last night...

and he was (no surprise) very funny. If you aren't familiar with him, well, he's a British stand-up comedian. (Should that be strut-up?)

I thought the first half was funnier than the second. One of the best bits, to my mind, was him rambling on about ancient Greek heroes. Like Achilles, who had the "Achilles heel" where you could kill him. Or Agamemnon, who had the "Agamemnon neck" weak spot - he would die if you thrust a huge axe through it. Or Paris, who was just there for the shopping.
...trust me, it was hysterically funny. The delivery helps.

The worst thing about the show was not anything having to do with the show itself. It was that I kept dozing off. Despite being interested and laughing! See, the show didn't start until after 8, and it was dark and warm, and it got to be around my normal bedtime, and...

dammit. I missed some of his really good bits, like what Sean Connery would sound like if he were French.

Ooo, you lucky bastard. I was only recently introduced to the wondrousness that is the Izzard, and I was impressed. "Je suis le president de Burundi!"

Too bad about the falling asleep, though.

What I find amusing about Sean Connery and French is that his name is, in French, a slang word for "stupid things" via the colloquial word for "vagina".

The Sean Connery impression even I got, with the minuscule amount of french that I know: "Je m'appelle Bond. James Bond" and "le chaise ejecteur."

Although the time I laughed the hardest was when he was telling about "failed guide dogs." I kept flashing back to the story about "a blind man with a deaf dog."

It was indeed great fun. Sorry we couldn't socialize more last night!

I think that was probably my favorite part too.... and the part where he kept eating the dog treats =)

figures. I missed that one too.
