Galen is not a stupid cat.

Let me re-phrase that: he is not un-intelligent. "Stupid cat" is, however, a phrase we have been using in conjunction with his activities lately.

He now knows that the door levers are what make the doors open, although thankfully he's too short to reach them. Barely. His latest trick is opening the sink cabinets. Sometimes to let them slam shut for his amusement (Thump! Thump! Thump!) and sometimes to get into them. My wife has some curlers that he discovered and wrecked - they have wires, and strings are an Enemy Of The People and must be destroyed.

He was trying to chew on the TV wire last night, because it's also a string.

Sigh. We may buy some chile oil to apply, in the hopes that the bad taste dissuades him. With our luck, though, he'll like hot food as much as I do...

Sounds like he's acting like a teenager. Those of our friends with children of appropriate age would agree that such creatures are not stupid, but they certainly act that way at times. I know that my mom felt that way about me... :)

Yep! And here I am with 2 of the people kind and 1 of the feline kind. What *was* I thinking? "But they are so cute when they are little."

I must confess that I actually prefer the teenagers...mine, anyway :)

You need to child-proof! If your cabinets have handles, it's fairly easy.

I recall a spot on America's Funniest videos wherein a cat had learned to leap upward on the wall to turn on the ceiling light switch.

Oh the joys of parenthood. We are going through a little of that too. I know that the worst is yet to come though. LOL I hope we are up to it!
