Waffle waffle waffle

"Waffle" is a good word. Not quite as good as arugula, but still.

We finally got our 1950s cast-iron waffle iron fixed – one of the heating elements had burned out, plus I wasn't too sanguine about the vintage fabric-covered electrical cord with a poorly-attached muckin'-great plug. Why didn't we just buy a new waffle iron? This one works really well (when it works); also, the wife's grandfather had a hobby of buying old waffle irons, fixing them, and giving them to family members.

So we had sourdough waffles for breakfast Sunday. Mmmm... waffles. Just had the last one for leftovers.

What I’m reading: Lois McMaster Bujold, Winterfair Gifts

So what is Winterfair Gifts?

It's a short story about Miles' and Ekaterin's wedding, told from the viewpoint of the newest Armsmain, Roic.

It's in a book of "romantic science fiction" short stories, most of which don't appeal to me. The book is called Irresistible Forces. Bujold's story was the sole reason I checked it out from the library...

Yeah, the rest of the book was ... entirely forgettable. But worth the price for the Bujold.

I dunno. It'll probably be collected with other (yet to be written) Vorkosigan short stories some time... so I couldn't be bothered with buying the book when the rest of the stories don't interest me.

Mmmmm ....
