A slippery slope indeed
This week's Resolution Recipe: The Slope Cocktail. (A variant of the Manhattan.)
2 1/2 oz rye whiskey
3/4 oz Punt e Mes
1/4 oz apricot brandy
1 dash Angostura bitters
Combine in a bar glass and add cracked ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
What worked: I like me some Punt e Mes (a bitter Italian vermouth) when I'm in the mood. The apricot brandy smooths it out so that it's nice even when I'm not in quite as bitter a mood.
What didn't: It would be very easy to drink too many of these.
Will I make it again? It's going in the cocktail recipe book, yes.
