This week's Resolution Recipe: Satan's Whiskers.
"The Satan's Whiskers first appears in print in the classic Savoy Cocktail Book from 1930."

3/4 oz dry gin
3/4 oz fresh orange juice
1/4 oz dry vermouth
1/4 oz Punt e Mes
1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz simple syrup
1/4 oz Grand Marnier / orange liqueur
dash orange bitters
1 orange slice
orange twist, for garnish

Add all (including the orange slice) to a shaker with ice. Vigorously shake for less time than typical to avoid adding too much water. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with an orange twist.

What worked: It was easy to drink. The wife liked it. This version is a little brighter than the classic concoction from the '30s.

What didn't: I like three-ingredient cocktails, partly because I tend to be a cocktail purist, but mostly because I am lazy.

Will I make it again? I'll put it in the recipe book but I am more likely to make a Sidecar or a Blood & Sand when I want an orange-y/citrus cocktail.

It sounds delicious, but I'm with you. More than 3 ingredients is too much for me to keep track of or even keep on hand when the whim strikes. Although I'd be happy to drink it if it was put in my hands.
