This week's Resolution Recipe: the Averna Jim Jam Cocktail.
Mildly stupid name, decent cocktail.

60 ml Averna
30 ml apricot brandy
30 ml lemon juice

Combine all in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

What worked: It was fine. The wife liked it better than I did, but I didn't dislike it. 2:1:1 is a classic cocktail construction for a reason.

What didn't: a bit sweeter than my ideal, but not so much that I had any real complaints - I still finished it.

Will I make it again? Maybe. I'd be more likely to use a spicier Amaro instead of Averna.

Bonus Resolution Recipe because the wife fell in love with it in Florence: Aperol Spritz.

3 parts Prosecco
2 parts Aperol
splash soda
orange slice

Pour Prosecco and Aperol over ice, top with soda, stir gently, garnish with orange.

What worked: Tasty enough. Aperol is an orange-based vermouth.

What didn't: It's never going to taste as good as vacation. That said, I actually like straight Aperol and soda better.

Will I make it again? Probably given the wife's current fondness for it. Although for my taste, I am more likely to make a Campari spritz.
