Short version: I am going "blah blah blah," not that I was blah about the event.

The wife needed to do a little work on her underdress to fit her smaller waist so we were a bit delayed getting on the road - but not beyond my expected target time. Driving to site was easy enough.

Setting up camp took a while; the last time we camped was WAT nearly two years ago, so we were out of practice. We also found out that our floor barrier, a sheet of Visquene, was ripping apart in places so that went on our list to replace before the next camping event. Fortunately we weren't expecting a rainy event. I love the sheep ranch in Cloverdale for that time of year: it's off the beaten path and surrounded by oak-covered hills. And the sheep chorus was back! No emu though.

We went to our friend Meg's vigil, which had some really good conversations. I also visited another vigil because my vigil story involved his wife and that site.

Saturday I made a point of performing some Anglo-Saxon riddles and other poetry at the performing arts shade - I wanted to get all the tokens for the kingdom challenge. They were well received. Then we processed with Meg for her Laurel. That ceremony was nice; only two speakers, and while there was a lot of regalia handed to her (understandably), it was all done outside the ceremony itself so that it didn't take 45 minutes.

The rest of the day I wandered around being social or sat under our awning with various people being social there. I couldn't be arsed to go to other courts. We had invited Etaine and Janek (sp?) for dinner, but she had to bail that evening for family issues. We invited Leon & Muriel instead. The curvy upstairs neighbor, who was hosting a cheese demo, had chatted with a new couple who had wandered onsite because they were curious about the SCA signs. She invited them to dine with us as well. So we got long-time SCA guests and ones who were at their very first event! It was convivial. I made a Tudor-style green salad (because we are often short of veg) and also a pork/herb fritter that came out pretty well. Resolution Recipe to follow.

Sunday we had no meetings; sadly but understandably the West is moving away from peerage meetings at Kingdom events since we now have five peerages. And presumably more to come, he said grumpily. Anyway, we packed up and hit the road before noon. That didn't save us because traffic was awful and it took 2.5 hours.

I am tired today. Not sore, but weary from being social and a bit wrung out from the whole thing. I would have liked to take today off but after last week's vacation, I can't justify that. So I should get back to work.
