Went to a dinner party last night with the wife and the curvy upstairs neighbor. The fuzzy one was too sick to attend, alas.

It was indeed lovely. Good conversation with M&C, nice wine (a 20ish old bottle of Chateau Rothschild from the cellar of M's dad - not overwhelming as it turned out, but good, and the Sauternes was excellent), showy and tasty dinner party food. (Cornichons and pate, seared foie gras, a salad from the curvy upstairs neighbor, and roasted lamb chops crusted with gruyere and other things...) I made the Tarte chocolat aux noisettes again, but it was considerably less successful this time 'round. (I'm not sure if it was the milk chocolate I accidentally grabbed instead of the dark, or what - but it never set, just gooshed. Reasonably tasty but a definite esthetic failure.)

An evening well worth missing an hour of sleep last night. I really need to work on my dinner party repertoire.

And off to Mendocino (area) tomorrow morning for three days of relaxation with the wife!
