My Life the Gnocchi Western
Sep. 2nd, 2003 09:03 amHad a visit from our wedding’s best man, whom I’ve known since high school. I can count on one hand classmates with whom I keep in contact, and one of those I have no choice in the matter – he works across the room from me. Anyway, he and his wife both work in theatre, and so their schedules are insanely full. I have immense respect for their being able to make a living in an area of their passion; although I do wish we could see them more. Oh well, such is life. We enjoyed them visiting and had a lovely dinner. I experimented with a poppy-seed cake recipe I hadn’t tried before, and it came out very well.
the Sad: the upstairs neighbor unexpectedly lost a parent. Trying to express (honestly felt) condolences, although I only met the parent once. All the emotional weirdness involved when a close friend loses a close relative.
the Ugly: Dawn’s classes start today. I’m sure she’ll do well this semester (again), learn much, and enjoy the classes. But tuition, aargh! Her class schedule, combined with work-study, probably means that during the week, we'll only see each other sleeping. Ships passing in the night and all that. (sigh)
