I don't like working in the dark. It strains my eyes. However, I'm behind turning off lights when they're not in use.

There is at least one person in my office who is constantly turning off the lights in our breakroom. Which, by the way, is already controlled by a motion sensor. So that it turns off the lights after a designated time.

Every time I go in there to get a mug of water, I have to manually turn the sensor-controlled lights back on.
Does this person think that the additional miniscule energy savings will magically be deposited into his paycheck? Doesn't he realize that that any savings will simply be eaten up by additional vision plan costs from more eye strain?

Yeah. We had the same problem here, for the file room. I put a label over the switch saying "DO NOT TURN OFF THIS SWITCH; THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT BY ITSELF."

Turns out, it was the new girl doing it, because she has been trained by her parents to save electricity.

This would be the same girl who never turns off her monitor when she leaves for the night...

My guess, not knowing the people in question: They don't understand the technology involved. Seriously. They don't have motion sensors at home, so why should they know about 'em at work? (Well, they should, but that would mean using the brain for something other than growing hair ...)
