Dear self:

The purpose of an alarm is to wake you so that you get out of bed. Not for you to turn it off without ever waking up. Granted, setting the alarm for 4 AM builds in some slack time - even with getting up 40 minutes after you were supposed to, you only left the house five minutes late. But you had to rush through showering and all the other morning fu.

Oh, and one more thing: what's up with your subconscious? That dream you had after turning off the alarm this morning? Very strange. You and the wife were at a crowded pool party with Tommy Smothers. Afterwards you had dinner with a dozen or so people, including Matt and Crystal; okay, I can see where that came from since you had dinner with them (and roughly that many people) last Sunday. But this was hosted by Paul Newman - you sat next to him, and you helped him harvest lemons while talking pruning tips. Dinner was followed by a tasting of his Newman’s Own flavored beer jellies. roswtr was there, along with two of her apprentices (not real ones) and we all started singing "Rum-tikki-tikki, rum-tikki-tikki, rum-tikki-tikki-tum" and swaying appropriately to the rhythm. While one of said apprentices danced.
