My recent Midwest trip was on United, and all I got for an all-day flight was a stale donutoid-bar (thanks, I’ll pass) and some Chex-oid mix. I didn’t know this was the case, or I might have bought something overpriced in the terminal before boarding. Seems like some astute company could sell box meals right at the gate. If they were reasonably priced and at least decent quality, I’d at least think about picking one up. It would certainly beat a stale greasy McDonalds bag.
I know that some of the airlines are experimenting with selling meals in-flight, but I’d feel more confident with a third party brand. Oh well; just one more institutionalized decline in service.
(Dang! There goes that cranky geezer voice again.)
