An evening well spent
Sep. 22nd, 2004 08:10 amIt was a beautiful night.
The last evening of summer. 70 degrees with a light breeze. A half-moon over the right field wall.
Seats behind the bullpen (not the dugout as I previously mentioned), so I was 20 feet from the Giants' starter as he warmed up. After his last toss, he carefully handed the ball to a 2-year-old, who was oblivious to the whole thing. The dad was ecstatic, though.
I kept my streak alive: when we got up in the 3rd to get hot dogs, a foul ball hit the empty seats behind us. Other games I've gotten up to use the bathroom and a foul hit my seat. I've never gotten a ball, but I guess I should cultivate a bigger bladder and maybe I'll have a chance.
A couple of beers, a Giants victory to keep their wild-card lead and pull within 1 1/2 of the Dodgers... well worth the lack of sleep it caused.
