Happy NYGMT
Dec. 31st, 2004 09:33 amThe last several years we've hosted a "NYGMT party" - New Year's, Greenwich Mean Time. We pop the champagne and cider at 4 PM Pacific.
It's been a good party to do. I have problems staying up until midnight even when fully rested - and I usually work on NY Eve anyway, which means getting up at 4 AM. Hosting a party at 4 PM also means that people can stop by and then hit more traditional parties, so we see more folks we might not otherwise. And people who don't want to fight drunken traffic can still go home in the daylight.
But... not this year. Too many stresses. The wife finishing school; her dad dying six months back and all the other, lingering paperwork joys that go with it; the GSP play (which is finally coming together, I think); etc etc etc.
Hopefully, that will change and we'll see many of you at the party next year.
Either way, best wishes.
