...but is it too much to ask for some attempts at impartiality?
Apparently.

From yesterday's SF Chronicle:
[Joe] Biden was a candidate for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination, but withdrew from the race in 1987 amid accusations that he had plagiarized passages in his speeches.
Nice rhetorical trick: underplaying the facts as "accusations". They weren't just accusations, they were fact. He admitted the plagiarism at the time and apologized, saying it was unintentional.

Referring to Biden's ethical lapse as "accusations" is like saying that Bill Clinton was "accused" of adultery, or Reagan was "accused" of illegally selling weapons to Iran to illegally fund the Contras. Both things happened. As opposed to John Kerry being accused of lying about his combat record - where it is true that he was accused, but there was no basis in fact behind it.
