Apr. 7th, 2008 08:25 amMists Coronet went fine, from my perspective. I stepped down as exchequer, but since
aastg is in London I had to run the money part of the event anyway. Not a big deal, fortunately.
I don't know the new heirs but in chatting with them at the Sunday meeting and afterwards, they seem like nice folks who will do the best they can in the hats. Which is what you want, after all.
bonacorsi and I didn't camp, since we weren't up to packing/unpacking/hauling/pavilion setup/ etc yet. We hope to camp Beltane though. Instead, we day-tripped Saturday and stayed at a local Best Western; the site is only 45 minutes away, but I had to be there Sunday morning for meetings and to pay off the rangers.
Dinner worked well: we had two tables and four sets of benches, and we all sat there reasonably comfortably. There was way, way too much food, especially meat, but we foisted most of the leftovers off on passers-by.
j_i_m_r's apple/onion sauce was particularly faboo.
Unfortunately we stayed a bit too long for the wife; she got too cold and had a bad-ish coughing night. We should have had a contingency plan where she took off during the day to check in and nap for an hour or two, but we didn't think of it. Oh well. She ended up staying at the hotel Sunday while I went back to site for meetings. That way she stayed warm and dry, and could veg out and recover.
