I thought about calling in sick today. I was tired and didn't want to go in. Plus I have a bunch of schoolwork I need to work on, like the paper due Monday that I've barely started. But I dragged my butt out of bed and made my way to work anyway.
My boss called in sick. Our backup is at a conference for the rest of the week. So it's probably for the best that I was virtuous and diligent today.
He and I definitely have differing work styles, though. I'm a worker-bee introvert and I'm getting a lot done because it's quiet and I'm not being disturbed. He is a social butterfly extrovert with ADD. He'll get bored while doing something and suddenly call someone to chat for half an hour. (Which I have to listen to or try to tune out, since I sit next to him.) Then he'll finish whatever he's working on.
I don't think I could work by myself all the time. But a break like this is nice.
