Driving to Sacramento was shockingly (and pleasingly) light on traffic Friday evening. We had a nice dinner at a hole-in-the-wall Mongolian barbecue with
etaine_pommier and J!, who were sharing our room. I should have brought a pedometer. I bet I logged a couple miles - our room was nearly as far away from the lobby and dining area as physically possible.
bonacorsi and I stayed up too late as she was sewing and I was vaguely keeping her company.
Saturday we stood court, which was uneventful yet tiring. I tapped out early to assemble for the play. That went extremely well. I know I flubbed a number of lines but everybody's energy was up and we covered quickly. The audience wasn't cold to start, so we got a good reaction right away. And we got a near-immediate standing ovation! That's highly gratifying. Capering around while hunched over took its toll on my back and shoulders but it was important to me to have the right physicality for a sleazy old lech... I don't need to play that role again any time soon but I did enjoy it. I'm looking forward to seeing the video.
We booked out of there fairly early Sunday. Since we were right on the end, we simply hauled stuff down without getting distracted by other people in the lobby. The four of us had a good brunch at the Fox and Goose. The wife and I returned to a frantic cat who was angry about our unexplained absence.
