Compass Star Opening

I had a lovely time at the opening. Lots of good friends, good chat, and - of course - very good food. Sadly, the wife was home sick with a cold.

I was slightly stunned when R., in her toast to opening the cafe, gave me a shout-out for teaching her how to make bacon. If I helped set her feet on the cured meats road, I'm very happy; but all her culinary accomplishments rest on her talent and drive.
