Off The Rails

Plans for yesterday got slightly derailed. I ended up watching most of the Giants game yesterday rather doing than some of the many things I had planned. I forgot to read the pate recipe ahead of time, so I was surprised by the "marinate overnight" part of it, and couldn't make the recipe. I also jarred up the gallons of sauerkraut - glad I did it, but that took several hours. It's a decent, but to my taste overly mild, sauerkraut.

Those are all choices laid at my feet rather than at the universe's. Then the wife suffered (thankfully) mild food poisoning, presumably from a bad piece of crab. I was unaffected. So no Hangtown Fry and mimosas this morning.

For the record: a Reuben sandwich with house-made rye bread, house-cured pastrami, and house-made sauerkraut is spectacular. Now I just need Swiss/Emmentaler from the curvy upstairs neighbor, and maybe figure out how to make Dijon mustard...
