Jun. 2nd, 2012 11:59 amFinally getting around to a bit of Erinwood post-mortem posting. Somewhat stream-of-consciousness...
-We had a fabulous time. It was our first time at the event (the wife went to last year's A&S, so she at least had been to the site before) and there were many people there outside our Usual Hangouts. This is a good thing as we're both introverts, so a bit of stretching is valuable.
-Despite its fighter-centric nature, we still had a fabulous time. Neither of us fights (or is fought for) so we've never particularly been part of that aspect of the SCA at any deep level. The wife spent much time in the gallery, watching and socializing. I got out to the field a couple times to watch the fights so I still felt like I was participating in that. To a certain extent it felt like a Crown Tourney distilled down to the Good Stuff.
-Me spending much of the time in the house cooking was not overly burdensome. We had plenty of people and it didn't feel overwhelming. Staff lunch was awesome; Chani made a mean curry from stuff lying around. We made way too much food, though. I brought home two bags of cooked sausages which we've been turning into meals this week, as well as a bag of grilled lamb (the rest of which is going into tagine tonight).
-Bottom line? We'd go again if they have us. I refuse to think about it until after Twelfth Night, though.
