A&S

This is one of my favorite events, for tolerably obvious reasons. I'm going to summarize, Resolution Recipe style.

What worked: Friday sushi night was fun and tasty. My class was full; for a long time it looked like I'd only get half the slots, but enough people showed up. They seemed to enjoy making caul meatballs. I have some ideas to improve the next version. Top of the list is spices in disposable bags, because my glass spice jars got greasy from pork-coated hands.

Good to see [livejournal.com profile] aimeric and [livejournal.com profile] wufmew. I donated some cured meat and pickled veg to the Crosston auction. People bought them.

I didn't do much at the cooks' play date. Partly because of my class, partly because I decided to try a new redaction on a goat leg for Saturday dinner. That turned out pretty well and will be a Resolution recipe when I find the piece of paper where I jotted down my notes (sigh). Mostly I hung around and drank. Mostly I drank non-alcoholic drinks and I stayed hydrated, as my bladder witnessed. I also avoided sunburn.

Muriel's vigil in her labyrinth was good. I liked having the walk both as a focus and a timing mechanism. Holding the elevation in front of the chapel was pretty cool too. I donated my laurel apron so she could be robed as befits her estate. I know where I can eventually get another one, and besides - this way Muriel's has a lineage. ("That spot was Tuna of Another Sort, and that one was a vinegar sauce, and...")

What didn't: Friday dinner was late and I got a bit cranky. I should pack some carrots for blood sugar renewal. We thought about going into town for a root beer float and maybe something more solid, but that would have meant losing our primo parking place. I suppose we could have asked if anyone was willing to drive us in if we bought them a float, but that felt kind of greedy and selfish...

92 degrees on Saturday. At least that was cooler than the predictions, and we were camped under trees. As long as we didn't leave camp - which I didn't, much - it felt a bit cooler.
Having to haul all our stuff from the parking lot is less convenient than I'd like. The process is slowed down by people occasionally bogarting the three carts on Sunday while they pack. Oh well.

Will I go again? Of course.
