The slicer is dead. Long live the slicer
Jan. 12th, 2019 02:11 pmMy meat slicer died today. Specifically, the plastic railing on the pusher cracked. Given that the slicer itself is 1) mostly plastic; 2) over 15 years old; 3) discontinued by the manufacturer; 4) has seen a lot of use since I bought it new - it's not worth repairing.
Instead I just ordered a slicer I've had bookmarked for a few years. It's all-metal, German manufacturing, non-electric hand-crank. It was more expensive than the slicer I bought back then, but it should last a good 20 years. Which may be the rest of my charcuterie-making life, so seems worth it.
I think it's my 50th birthday present, though. Still worth it.
