Better Than an Old Dog

Galen has learned a new trick. When one of us goes down the front stairs, he often runs down with us. Then he scratches at the rug in the entryway. This is a signal that we are supposed to pick him up and take him back upstairs.

It's a good trick from his perspective. If we pick him up and carry him back up, then 1) he gets cuddles; 2) we aren't leaving the house. And it works sufficiently that he's made it into a routine.
