Lockdown film review: Sex Education.
This got good reviews so it's been sitting in our Netflix list. We finally got around to watching the first season.

It was far better than I expected. I'm not really a fan of boy-teen raunch (e.g. Porky's); this isn't that, thankfully. The basic plot is a British 15-year-old whose mother is a sex therapist (with many of her own issues); he starts a sex therapy clinic at school - despite being a virgin and having his own repression problems. There are a few boobs but nothing more. The characters are hyped for drama, of course - while high school is definitely meaner than most of us like to remember, it's hard for me to believe that the bullying shown here would be tolerated in a private school. But even some of the mean characters have their own problems and the people seem more real than stereotype.

Races and relationships are varied but not seen as unusual, which is always a nice touch.

I'm looking forward to watching season 2.
