The girls have been with us for a month now. Long enough to comment on some things.
  • 10/10, would adopt again.  Considering that we couldn't get to know them beforehand, we lucked out.  Beatrice is a solid lap cat and Hildegard at least likes laying alongside laps.  They have full run of the house (and run fully around the house).  I'm not sure they've settled on any sort of dominance, but they play together and chase each other quite a lot.  Hilde uses her size when they wrassle and  Bea is sneaky about stealing toys when Hilde is distracted.
  • They continue to do their primary job well - be incredibly cute. We continue to spam pictures to FB. They have both grown significantly. Beatrice, being three weeks younger, is still quite a bit smaller. If we're right about the British shorthair genes she might take two years to fully mature.
  • I am both anticipating and dreading Hildegard's test at the end of the month. It will (probably) be an end to the uncertainty, at least. Obviously I hope she will be in the third of FeLV cases that are asymptomatic carriers and we can continue to love her for many years.
  • Hilde continues to chatter quite a bit.  She has also been teaching Bea some behaviors, such as her weird "test the drinking water level with a paw" habit.  Bea has even picked up on chirping at Hilde occasionally.  Hilde has adopted the front and back window spaces that Galen loved so much.
  • Bea is still skittish, especially since we've been having to dose her with eyedrops.  She has RBF: Resting Blep Face.
  • Both love having their bellies rubbed.  The shaved bits from their operations have almost fully regrown.
  • They are going to utterly shred our armchairs.  Oh well.  Having cats means a certain amount of property destruction.
