state of the ladies - 3 month mark
Oct. 9th, 2020 09:13 amApproximately, anyway. Hildegard and Beatrice seem to be doing well. They are both around 6.75 lbs, which is a bit mind-blowing since Bea was under 2 lbs when she came home with us. At the time she had just had her spaying that day and was probably a bit too young. She had very wispy fur and looked kind of like a guinea pig in shape (her short face didn't help). Now both look like smallish but regular-sized cats. Bea's fur has grown to be a full coat, although since it doesn't have an undercoat it looks crinkly. Again, going with the British shorthair look.
Hilde continues to be vocal and an attention-seeker. She loves having a window to look through and immediately adopted the pillows we put there for her. I'm a little disappointed that she hasn't been a lap cat after the first couple weeks with us; she likes being near rather than on or held.
They may both continue growing. We'll see. Bea is food-motivated and we may have to guard against her becoming a chonker. (She already has a bit of a belly.)
We wouldn't have adopted them under normal circumstances, but I'm glad they're with us now.
