Mar. 5th, 2021 10:13 amThis week's Lockdown Takeout Review: Prubechu.
We're not doing weekly takeouts anymore, but it's still kind of fun to record these. This is a local Guamanian restaurant; apparently the only one in the city. We had two entrees - Chamorro barbecue short ribs with a small side of chicken Kelaguen (marinated in lemon, coconut, and scallions). The other was Tinaktak, or coconut braised beef with house-made egg noodles.
What worked: They answered the phone quickly and the dishes were ready when we got there 15 minutes later. The two coconut dishes were really good. The house kimchi was also nice, although not as spicy/zingy as I like.
What didn't: The short ribs were just okay, and the red rice side dish was adequate but nothing more.
Will I visit again? They have a nice outdoor patio. Circumstances permitting, it would be fun to take people there for a cuisine they might not have tried. Also I am curious about their dry-fried chicken wings and miso black cod.
