Jun. 9th, 2021 07:50 amOne of the things with going back to the office regularly is access to a microwave. We don't have one at home - insufficient counter space. (My coffee grinder is both smaller and a higher priority.) I've actually only ever had a microwave once, during the brief period we lived in the Mountain View townhouse when we had tons of counters.
Anyway, this frees me up to resume making some of the nukable work breakfasts: Irish oatmeal and congee. This week we roasted a chicken for a couple of dinners - specifically so I could make a batch of congee. I cooked it last night and ate a serving today. I enjoyed it, although after a year of not making it, I did not cook it down quite enough for my taste. (I like the rice fully broken down and the congee to be solid when cold, and quite thick even when warm.)
