Hilde Update, cont.
Jul. 23rd, 2021 10:24 amHilde is eating a bit more, especially right after we smear the hangry meds in her ear. It doesn't actually seem to be making her hangry, thankfully. However, she's still quiet and low-energy. She's still spending most of her time laying about - but not as much caving under the bed or in her Hilde-hole. (That's the study closet, where I keep my sweatshirts. She's turned that into a nest.)
The wife thinks she might have an intestinal blockage. Her poo was runny last night, which is one of the signs that solids aren't getting through. On the other paw, she is eating more liquid with the salmon stuff, so. It would explain why the vet didn't find anything; they didn't x-ray her bowels. We'll continue to monitor her and take her in as needed, sooner rather than later if this continues. Hilde does seem a lot better than she was when this first started. Just not back to normal yet.
How is Miss Bea taking all this? She seems to relish Hilde not bowling her over during play sessions, so she can bogart the toys. Bea has developed a ritual with the mousie-onna-wire where she plays with it on the hall rug, then takes it in her mouth and parades into the kitchen, around the table (which forces the monkey to drop the stick), and back to the rug where she drops it. The monkey can then pick the stick back up and start again. Hilde occasionally watches this from the landing but apparently the ritual is understood that Hilde doesn't interfere.
Bea also slept with us last night in the chastity cat position. Around 4 AM she woke up and sat on my chest for awhile. Then she demanded to go under the covers - but thankfully in between layers so none of our skin was at risk from her claws. She snoozed that way curled up in my arm for a good half hour before the alarm went off.
