Turgid Drama of the Morning
Oct. 20th, 2021 07:04 amMy sinuses agree with the forecasters: there's a storm a-comin'. Yep. My bladder decided to wake me around midnight and the sinuses kept me awake. They weren't particularly painful, but I could feel the pressure.
It's tempting to blame that for this morning, but really it was just a brain fart. I have a routine after getting out of the shower: I start anything that needs a bit of time - oatmeal or toast if I am having those, water for coffee - and then go downstairs to get the paper. I then prep my coffee and start eating any breakfast that doesn't need time if I am having that, such as yogurt or a previously-boiled egg.
This morning I did all that and ate my egg. The kettle announced it was ready. I moved to the stove, picked up the kettle... and noticed I had done zilch to prep coffee. Hadn't measured beans and ground them, gotten out a mug or coffee filter.
Reader, it is significantly more difficult to make coffee when all you have is hot water.
