My dream this morning was the wife and I in a small motel room as the Monkees (all alive and in their 1970s ages) recorded a cover album. We were singing along with them - not as official backup, but the whole thing had a bootleg feel so it was more like we were audience members singing even though no one else was present.
Apparently the impetus for recording was the surfacing of a straightforward blues cover they had done as a throwaway when they were doing the TV show. It had gotten airplay so they were taking advantage and recording other covers, mostly blues but some rock as well that wasn't explicit in the dream. However: they were playing odd string instruments, like a ukelele and a banjo, that they were stretching the strings longer like taffy. This apparently made the instruments sound like specific guitar models consistent with the cover songs.
I can't explain it either.
