The fruits* of Victory**

Dinner last night was a salad, made with lettuce from our garden, tomatoes (the fruits)^*** from our garden, carrots and cucumbers from the farmers’ market.

We also harvested corn. The ears were small, about half-normal length; and I think they were a bit over-ripe. We didn’t know how to tell when they were ready, so they got left on the stalks too long. Still pretty good though!

^*** Botanically, the tomato is a fruit. Legally in the U.S., however, it is a vegetable – thanks to a 19th century Supreme Court case. Over tariffs, I think.
