If you don't particularly want to read about baseball, or my thoughts thereupon, you don't have to go any further.

Have fun, New York City.
No one else cares.

I'll half-heartedly root for the Marlins, I suppose, but only because I (like most of the country) don't want the Yankees to win.

The Yankees have an institutional arrogance that is annoying at the best of times. Yankees fans feel it is their God-given (or maybe Steinbrenner-given) right to win the World Series each year, every year. Ask a Yankees fan and he'll tell you that Yankee Stadium is the best park in baseball, a cathedral. The Yanks have won nine of the last five Series there.

It's within the rules for Steinbrenner to buy championships as he can, and at least he doesn't put the team up for sale the day afterwards as Huizenga did with the Marlins ten years ago. But still...

I'm a Giants fan. I rooted against the Cubs because their fans aren't long-suffering; it's the rest of us around them who are. I really wanted to see the Sox win it all.

Now I have to put up with the Yankees fans doing their usual obnoxious thing.
Grump.

God-Given Right to Win each year?

I thought that was the right of Every American(TM) that we're the best or number one winner in every sport, every competition, every policy, every achievement, and every war.

It's official government policy, isn't it?

What gives those Yankees the right to think that they have the right to be number one all the time? Damn them.
