Bonus points if you correctly place the reference above.

My 15th anniversary with this company is around the end of the month. We get our choice of a list of gifts every five years. For ten years, I got a nice Coach briefcase which I still use. Nothing grabbed me this time 'round, though; so I ordered a set of (cultured) pearls that arrived today. The wife will wear them at SCA events and can keep the really expensive set at home.

I took a bit of teasing at work, but it subsided when I pointed out that scoring domestic tranquility points is totally worth it.

shouldnt that be "theywe wuvwey!"? ;)

we used to do the catelog gifty thing too...much covetted were the commerative gas grill or the commemorative weed whacker or power drill set. I ended up with a boom box one year and a digital camera another year.

I think they switched to a freebie day off and "we'll donate $250 in your name to a charity" which is kinda cool too!

Hey, I hope you would get a great deal more than just "domestic tranquility." A gift that nice does deserve a bit more...

Now, granted, I'm the sort who would think of something suitably naughty, such as doing all sorts of scandalous things wearing only the pearls. :)

Maybe HE should wear the pearls while "doing something suitably naughty"

*chuckle*

We had the same (nearly) thing happen when [livejournal.com profile] bk2w hit his five-year anniversary with his employer -- none of the schwag really suited him, so he picked out the garnet earring set for me. =)

Domestic tranquility...ensued.

Correct! You win the bonus points. Now don't spend them all on comic books!

Nope. Edward G Robinson, not Elmer Fudd.

I decline to answer on the grounds that I don't want to.

This is not a visual I needed lodged in my skull...

Can one wash one's brain out with soap?

*smirks* Uh..... no?

But you can always try. I've heard it can be a tad painful.
