Travel crises averted

madbakerWe have a big last-minute presentation to make on Thursday. Apparently, they asked late last week for us to fly to their office and present in person.
In Milwaukee.
This would have meant flying to Milwaukee Wednesday night, presenting, then theoretically flying back to CA Thursday, then back to New York Monday. Um, what?
After coming down from the roof, I would have insisted the company put me up in Milwaukee for the weekend and then re-book a flight from there to NY on Monday. But fortunately we're videoconferencing, so I can stay at home with the wife and cat.
The other issue was my NY trip part II: I'm at a conference Tuesday through Thursday, but I'm getting in a day early so I can visit another broker. The travel department forgot to book my hotel room Monday night (despite my explicitly telling them to do so). Fortunately I double-checked and fixed the problem, but I shouldn't have had to do that. There are worse things than arriving at a hotel and finding out you have no room, but it's not something I want to experience...
