Nov. 6th, 2006 04:44 pmThe Good: Yesterday's breakfast - omelettes made with the leftover duck proscuitto, brie, and wild arugula. With a bit of homemade bacon on the side. Rapture.
The Bad: I wasn't particularly hungry at lunchtime, but I knew I had to get something or I'd regret it at rehearsal. The most convenient fud place nearby is a Subway; since I didn't want a sandwich, I made the mistake of ordering their spinach & chicken salad.
"Uh, we don't carry spinach anymore. That cola thing."
Okay... it's still on the menu...
"Oh, we use lettuce instead." Fine. Whatever. That meant their salad was a bowl filled with tasteless chopped iceberg lettuce, with a few shreds of chicken over the top. And a packet of ranch dressing. For this I paid money?
(I couldn't think of anything else for that cut) I have half a butchered lamb in the freezer, courtesy of the curvy upstairs neighbor's cousin; the neighbor has the other half. I may try to make lamb sausages this week.
Also, I am vaguely lusting after this vacuum coffee maker. For no real good reason, as I have two manual drip filters and a perfectly good Krups coffee machine. But it's cool!
Now if only it had a Jacob's Ladder attachment. My inner mad scientist says that there are very few things that wouldn't be improved by the addition of a Jacob's Ladder. Too many '50s horror movies on Channel 2 growing up, I guess.
