Well, he can't be re-tried in criminal court, and this is "fiction" which may make him money. What does he have to lose? Other than time looking for the real killer, of course.
Yeah. If he's trying to salvage his reputation, this is the absolutely worst way to do it. There have been plenty of people (black and white) who have been calling him a liar for the last decade over this whole thing. This just says to me that he's out of money, trying to capitalize on the whole thing, and so on. I guess he stopped looking for the "real killer" (did he look in the mirror?).
The only thing I can suggest to people is "Don't Buy This Book -- it will only encourage him!"
