Last night we watched The Corpse Bride. It was better than I expected. I might even watch it again. Okay, I saw the plot twist about five minutes into the film, but still.

Also, pesto made with sorrel leaves instead of basil is quite good.

If only Roger Ebert included culinary comments in his reviews...

I was disappointed with it. It felt too much like a rehashing (style-wise) of his other films, and the music was lacking. The only good song in there was the one that Elfman wrote for himself.

I would agree with the style comment; visually, it was derivative of Nightmare Before Christmas. On the music front I rather liked that it wasn't a typical Disney-style song-every-five-minutes flick.

But the music was almost entirely copied from Nightmare. Or, at least, it felt like it. Elfman needs to stretch himself.
