What's the nerdiest thing you've ever done? Define as you see fit.
I really have to split that in two.
Social nerdiness: Being interviewed by Channel 54 (the local PBS station) while I stood in line at Timecon for Tom Baker's autograph. Yes, they aired a five-second clip.

Academic nerdiness: Taking part in the Academic Decathlon... and winning the math portion.

What's the jock-est thing you've ever done? Define as you see fit.
I went to the national high school volleyball finals (we placed second) but I was a backup; I didn't play much. For personal accomplishment, it's my college fencing apex.

Feel free to post to your own journal or comment on your own experiences here, if you feel like it.

Heh. I did Decathlon in high school also. :)

Um does this count?

Nerdiest:
Ok I was working in a lab as a phlebotomist and the white coat kept getting pen marks on the pocket/near the pocket so I actively sought out a pocket protector. Just for the sole purpose of keeping my lab coat clean longer.

Jock-est:
Uh I wore rugby shirts in high school all the time so I looked like I was w/the "jocks" click.

Ha--now we all show our true colors!

I remember you fencing in college--I took fencing for a year or two as well, but I never got much good at all. Took the SCA to discover a kind of fighting I liked. (BTW, Professor Zold is alive and well and living in Bellingham last I heard--his nephew is in the SCA up there! Small world, huh! Did I ever tell you my mom took fencing from him as well when she was a student at Pomona? Crazy!)

OK, Here's mine:

Nerdiest: might be using an Excel spread sheet to plan Thankgiving and Passover dinners (it makes shopping so much easiser to alphasort the ingredients by both grocery section _and_ item), or might be finishing my term paper for Human Sexuality class a week early so as not to interfere with planning and prep for said Passover--but hey, I'm not sure any paper about your personal sex history counts as nerdy (I love my school!)

Jockiest: This one more rightly goes in the Nerd column--either powderpuff football as a Frosh in HS (I sucked), or winning most fights (47) in Squire's Tourney last fall (decidedly not sucking). Does hiking count? I once did 3000 feet up and 1000 down in four miles and four hours (the route to Blanca Lake near Skykomish.) The next day I slid down a glacier (on purpose) and nearly fell in a crevass (not so much). That wasn't jocky--that was just dumb. (Oh wait, maybe that does fit the definition of jock...)

I don't think it is all that nerdy, but I plan all my feasts with a spreadsheet. It lets me sort dishes into courses, keep track of attendees and plan and track costs. Plus it gives me a record, all in one place, for future feasts.

What's the jock-est thing you've ever done? Define as you see fit. Only one!? I once rode my bike 16 miles one way to see my boyfriend who had been sick for a couple of weeks. Then turned around and rode back later that day.

I walked a 35K walk-a-thon on a sprained ankle (from a tennis match the day before) because I had promised I would be there before said sprain.

That's not nerdy - that's being efficiently organized. I'm biased, of course, because I do the same thing.
