Nearly breaking my cover

madbakerDinner with a broker was at a NY steakhouse. It was quite good, as expected. The wine was a CA cab (Grgich) which I've had before; also good.
The amusing part of the evening was me commenting on the menu: one of the appetizers listed was "Canadian back bacon, per slice." I was informed that this was fabulous and must-try. So we ordered a slice each.
...yes, it was quite good. But no better than what I've personally made.
I managed to conceal this fact - but it was a close thing.
