A&S was a nice weekend - the site is pretty and the weather was nice, the grass is lush, it's easy to get to, and the rangers like us. (I gave them a half pound of Blue Bottle Coffee as a thank-you for all the work they do for and with us.)

The event was marred slightly by our forgetfulness - I spaced on bringing our firepit poles (they were behind some rugs that we normally take, but didn't bring for space reasons); and all of our eating utensils were left in the house. The box they were in broke and was replaced, but never made it to the appropriate place. It doesn't help to have a packing list when the list assumes that things are stored where they should be. We managed with loaners.

I even took a few food classes, which were pretty good. The Wooden Spoon roundtable even had a few non-Spoon holders, so it wasn't just the same crowd talking at each other.

Our Saturday dinner was too heavy on meat and too light on vegetables, but tasty for all that. It was easily the most successful of our dinners this year in terms of display: we were next door to the Royal Pavilion and in sight of everyone, and we were all on one side of the tables as the pictures show. There were a bunch of mundanes running around taking pictures and I noticed them snapping quite a few of us as we dined.

Otter Pops are still awesome on a hot day, but they need to be separated before they melt. We had a few blowouts.

Sunday auditions went pretty well. I could have done a better job with Dottore, and I will brush up on it before next week. I was reasonably happy with my Capitano portrayal, although I will try to improve that as well. And now I can post pictures of the finished mask!

I really, really wanted to post pics of the mask last week when we finished it. But I kept it secret so I could surprise people at auditions. Now that the first round is over, I'll take pictures sometime this week.

I left on Saturday night, but Oh, I was in the scribes tent next door while you were cooking, and your meal smelled so good that my carefully chilled crab and avacodo sandwich just didn't seem to be what I wanted for my trip home. I found myself very nearly drawn to panhandling!

Blue Bottle Coffee...Goon Show reference?

Auditions went well overall, but ugh, I've...um...done better. Rusty and forced. Oh well, that's what next week's for.

BTW, our productivity for the latter half of Sunday was completely shot, thanks to you :) (watched all the episodes of Season 2 Slings and Arrows in one sitting...)

Heh. Apparently [livejournal.com profile] goldenstag and [livejournal.com profile] aastg got sucked into watching Season 1 straight through as well. If you bring S2 to audition they'll be able to continue the addiction.

I don't know if we'll have finished S3 yet, but we'll bring it if we have.

Thank you again for the yummies and the invite to eat them at table. Was very fun, as well as delicious.
