Al Pacino spent a couple years making a documentary about Richard III. The film isn't a performance of the play - it's him and the other actors talking about the roles, understanding the language, and so forth. Also talking headshots with random passers-by and Shakespeare scholars/notables (Branagh, Gielgud, Jacobi, also Kevin Kline and James Earl Jones).

Highly recommended. It's not a performance, although there are scenes they shot at the Cloisters - Winona Ryder is pretty good as Lady Anne and Kevin Spacey is fabulous as Buckingham, Richard's right-hand man and accomplice. There was one bit with the actress playing Elizabeth -- she was questioning a motivation, saying that the woman was strong and wouldn't have just gone along with the usurpers. It reminded me of Slings and Arrows season III, where the actress playing Regan changed the character to suit her views...

Anyway, a good couple hours to watch an American actor delve into Shakespeare's most-performed play.
