I spent way, waay too much time on the cell phone today with tech support. We were trying to set up the wireless router (which, by the way, was working fine before we called). I spent so much time that the cell phone ran out of juice.

Not going to go into details - it was a comedy of errors - but eventually things got resolved. If only I'd had semy_of_pearls' work number...

Things now work. The proof? I'm typing this on our network, in the kitchen.
On the brand new laptop!

Snicker ... yeah, these things can be ... um ... loads of fun ... yeah, that's the ticket. The other day (before getting my new machine), the notebook computer stopped talking to the network, and for the life of me I couldn't see what the problem was. Then I realized there had been a power outage, so I disconnected the power for the modem (for the cable connection) and the network router, and let them sit for a moment, then plugged 'em back in. Once they were settled the notebook was able to talk to the network again. Weird.

I may not have been able to help you. Since I was moved out of DSL group, I don't have as much access as I did before. Still, may have been able to kick the right people for you (since they're across the hall.)

Srsly.... Lemme guess... you had to replicate/clone the MAC address while in 'Bridged mode' for the router, right?
