One of my pet peeves: people who make u-turns in a four-way intersection.
What's one of yours?

Let me clarify:

I don't like people who elevate themselves in their own minds through ridicule of others, based on *choices* those others have made. I chose "kids/nokids" because I encounter that one a lot ... but there are others, based on economic status, education level, education *type*, political beliefs, and so on.

Everyone has dignity, regardless of whatever choices they've made.

I just thank Jesus, the Republican-in-Chief, that my wealthy ivy-league-educated kids will be around me on my deathbed. I hate dying alone, don't you?

So why would you stop doing this just because one person finds it a "pet peeve?" I think you might be over reacting here.

Pet peeves are just opinions, and just because one person happens to hold that opinion doesn't mean that everyone, or even a significant number of people do. It's also, as I said to you before, no reason to stop doing something. Pet peeves are the persons problem, not the problems of other people. I wouldn't ask nor expect anyone to change their behavior simply because it happens to be my pet peeve.

And for your information, I've had it a lot longer then you might realize, and it developed because the person who raised it into my sightline did so with their annoying arrogance, not what passed for their sense of humor. In other words I associate the action with the person rather then just viewing the action itself as the problem. That's why it's my pet peeve and why I've never asked anyone not to do it.

I know you are a far better person then the one I associate that behavior with which is why I can still get along with you despite the occasional use of a "pet peeve" of mine.

I am quite sure that I have more then my fair share of habits others find to be their own "pet peeves."

Is it any 4-way or only ones without a turn light?

Ones without a light. I have no objection to legal u-turns.

It's perfectly understandable and as far as I am concerned there is no need to apologize. I'm totally okay with it.

Fair enough...

I think you and I have both hashed this "kids/no kids" topic enough to know where the other is coming from. I'm very happy that those that want children (and are hopefully raising intelligent, well-behaved, adjusted members of society) are doing so. In response, I'm doing my best to make the world a better place by not having children. Thus, we can all feel smug (or satisfied) about our decisions.

As long as you're feeling smug/satisfied... I'll be discrete about it, and won't tell anyone.
