'Cause the feast impressions (and fatigue) are too raw at the moment. Other than that, how was the weekend, Mrs. Lincoln?

We drove up Friday. Got a later start than I would have preferred, meaning that we inched in traffic getting out of San Francisco on a Friday afternoon for over an hour. Had an unexpectedly decent dinner at a brewpub in Fairfield we've thought about trying before (my sandwich was okay, the wife's roast chicken was good) and the beer was pretty good. Got to the hotel, did some ironing and last minute sewing, and to bed.

Got to the site at 8:15 (site opened at 9) and there were already a whole bunch of people there. [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi started directing and setting up and all that other autocratty stuff while I went back to the hotel for the bag of supplies she'd forgotten. I went to the beginning cooking class briefly, but I didn't stay for the whole thing as I had other stuff to do. I enjoyed [livejournal.com profile] ldyanna's sugar plate class; I learned things and had fun playing with sugar paste.

The rest of the day was taken up with the feast (entry to come later)

Didn't finish packing and cleaning until close to midnight. I was getting grumpy and tired; I was severely regretting having invited people to our room to imbibe bubbly, as all I really wanted to do was shower and sleep. But by the time people showed I was feeling social again, so that was all right. It was me and the wife obviously, Klaus, [livejournal.com profile] ppfuf and G-M, [livejournal.com profile] etaine_pommier and J!, V & V. We snarfed crackers and duck sausage and leftover creme bastarde (that last separately). It was good; we needed the detox time. Make that retox: as a group we also drank a nearly-full bottle of scotch, ditto one of port, two bottles of prosecco, and two or three bottles of wine. How I avoided a hangover Sunday I don't know. People left about 2 AM.

Sunday, futzed around and massaged the aching calves until checkout, then went for lunch before the Kingdom Officers' meeting. [livejournal.com profile] bonacorsi optimistically said it would last an hour and a half. I was outside with a book and drying linens (the hotel had free laundry, so we ran our stained linens through and got most of the wine, ale, and spilled food stains out). [livejournal.com profile] ldyanna showed up and we chatted for a good hour about random stuff. When it got to 3:00 I hauled the wife out so we could get home without too much Sunday afternoon traffic. At home, the upstairs neighbors pleasantly surprised us with a cool Pimm's Cup to imbibe and refresh ourselves.

And that's all I'm going to say about the weekend right now.
